People want to know what happened to Paranormal Paranoids, so many people have various theories and ideas about what exactly is happening with them.

In this post, we will go over some of the more popular theories about what is happening with Paranormal Paranoids Theories. Of course from this point on this post will offer some serious speculation and possible “spoilers”…. Is your theory listed here? Do you have a different idea? David is obsessed with Riley or he is possessed.

This theory is based on the idea that David is just a little bit too creepy and he snaps killing the crew and Riley in Riley’s Last Message. One theory is David is in love with Riley and is tired of her rejections and “being in the friend zone”. He attacks the group in a fit of rage and takes down Riley to keep her trapped and his prisoner like a serial killer. 

Another similar theory is that David is possessed by an evil spirit, werewolf, or another ghostly form who takes over and attacks everyone.

Reasons supporting this Paranormal Paranoids theory

David spends a significant amount of time focusing the camera on Riley in all of the videos. She is the main character, but he gives many people a creepy vibe. He repeatedly ignores the other members of the crew and focuses his attention on Riley. You can see this best at the end of the school episode when he ignores Laura and zooms in on Riley and asks if she is ok. She looks seriously upset and brushes him off. He doesn’t stop filming though until Laura pipes up and tells him to knock it off.

You can also see how much the other members are ignored when you are trying to get screenshots of the various characters for a fan site, and their on-screen time happens for a split second. 🙂 The paranormal paranoids is quite clearly the Riley show.

Another point for this theory is the attacker in Riley’s last message looks similar to David in the gas station and other videos. The black cap and dark hooded jacket. 

Thoughts on David is Obsessed/Possessed Paranormal Paranoids Theories

This theory has a little bit of “proof” behind it because the attacker does indeed look like David. There is some strange behavior from David as he constantly focuses on Riley, but even Jess at one point stated that is because she is the leader of the show. Jess even said Riley was her favorite character, so it’s possible that is all David was doing.

If you don’t want to believe David is a bad guy, you could pick the option that he is being forced to do these things against his will and he is possessed. Riley warned Peter that the group could get hurt if they didn’t stop. Getting possessed and kidnapped is a pretty good example of getting the group hurt.

Everything is just a theory at this point though. There is still so much that we don’t know. What are your thoughts on the David is obsessed or possessed Paranormal Paranoids Theories?

Cult Theory

There is a cult that notices Riley’s powers and wants to use her as a sacrifice. Some think the rest of the paranormal paranoids are involved, some think they are not.

Deal with Devil

Peter and David have made a deal with the devil for fame and fortune. (Sometimes Laura is included) They have to give Riley to the demon in order to complete the deal.

The “deal with the devil” is a classic Christian belief but has European roots even before that.  It is most popular with the story of Faust, who makes a deal with the Devil at a crossroads and exchanges his soul for endless knowledge and pleasure.

Deal with the devil is also talked about in the bible and shown in many different examples. The basic idea is that you make a pact with the Devil or a demon spirit. The person signs away their soul in exchange for favors like youth, knowledge, fame, or wealth. In some instances, you offer something else you truly care about(and not your soul) in exchange for favors. This later version is what people believe is happening with Riley.

Riley Is Mentally Unwell

Riley is actually mentally unwell but she still has some kind of psychic powers. The boys are aware of this and use her abilities to attract fame and fortune.

The basis for this theory is that Riley knew she had paranormal things her whole life, yet starts the channel with David anyway, basically inviting more horror in. Then she chooses to visit the locations she had dreams about with pushing from the others. 

The boy’s film and exploit her mental state and the associated breakdown she is experiencing to attract fame and fortune as doing this is in fact causing psychic experiences to happen around her. 

Thoughts on cult/deal/unwell theory

All of these theories deal with the overall basic concept that either part or all of the rest of the Paranormal Paranoids flip on Riley and betray her.

Most people have this belief because of the super aggressive and uncaring nature of Peter in the videos. Riley expresses her concern about continuing and Peter goes out of her way and even gaslighting her in order to try and convince her to continue the investigation. He claims they have “almost arrived” and is heavily focused on the money and fame they are going to get “any day now”.

David also has some creepy constantly filming Riley going on.

Laura hasn’t said much so she sometimes is included and sometimes isn’t in these theories.

The overall idea is that Riley is exploited by the Paranormal Paranoids crew.

There is definitely some strange behavior by Peter and David. Did they actually sell their friend out? Are they really going to deal with evil spirits or cults just for fame?

Riley Is Pranked

Riley is pranked by the rest of the crew. An additional member is doing the ‘ghostly’ things like the creature in the school.

This theory is based on the popular YouTube and TV show idea of “pranking” someone. The general idea is that others are playing a joke at an unsuspecting party, in this case, Peter, David, and Laura are pranking Riley.

They set up the various events and have an additional member that we don’t know about (or Mia) cause the spooky experiences to happen.

Some believe something goes wrong in RLM and something happens that makes the prank not so funny anymore. 

Thoughts on Riley is Pranked

I’m not too sure about this idea. Pranked is definitely a recent YouTube phenomenon with many popular YouTubers using this mechanic pretty frequently, so I’m pretty sure that’s where the idea comes from. Many Youtubers today will share crazy spooky stories and then…. SURPRISE you are pranked. But in 2008 when the Paranormal Paranoids were happening, pranking wasn’t such a big thing yet.

There are also some experiences where it would be really hard to have an additional member cause of the spooky event – Like in the prison episode and where Riley is breathing cold air that you can see. It technically is possible they could have set something up of course though.

Mary Talbert and the School could definitely have a third party involved, dressed up and doing the spooking. Peter even accuses David of doing this at the school.

That doesn’t explain why Riley saw visions of these experiences when she was younger though. Unless she saw visions of her friends playing jokes on her.

Mia is DEAD

Another theory in the same lines in Mia is already dead. Because Riley can communicate with spirts she is in denial about Mia being dead. The team tries to take her to various spooky places to come to terms with mia’s death.

Mia is a vengeful and evil spirit because she can not rest. So she has become Noir.

Thoughts on Mia is Dead

I initially thought that Mia not being alive was a good theory. But when I re-watched the show there were lots of other people commenting on Mia. Peter and David both talk about her in the one episode. She also is the one filming and she walks into the room when Riley is drawing the picture. It seems more likely she is alive but that there is some kind of mystery there. What do you think? Do you think Mia is Dead?
