Synopsis of Paranormal Paranoids – Prison Episode

The Prison Episode is the second episode of The Paranormal Paranoids. The Paranormal Paranoids visit a haunted prison. While touring the spooky location the tape cuts out and the location gets very cold after the group arrives in front of one of the cells. We can see Riley’s breath at this moment and she looks visibly shaken.

There is also a moment where we see Mia in writing on one of the walls.

[00:00:00] The Paranormal Paranoids intro plays. These images appear in a quick montage: Red lightning with a storm cloud, two moons traveling toward the corners of the screen glowing a strong white, a black a white spiral, and a brown CG door with a gold handle opening into the light. There is a slow, pitched-down, sinister laugh.

[00:00:08] In Chorus “Oh, the paranormal paranoids investigate the world beyond because there are some things we can’t explain.”

[00:00:08] Another montage of Riley, Laura, Peter, and David in shots from other parts of the series. The shot of David occurs in “Mary Talbert”.

[00:00:15] In Chorus “lot’s of times the mysteries turn out to be a hoax and other times they’re just inside your brain.”

[00:00:15] This montage shows a planet flying through space in sepia tone,  a black and white waving figure with a large bald forehead, a spaceship in lime green floating through space, and a whittling brain that the camera zooms in on. This is followed by a shot from Quentin Lawrence’s Trollenberg Terror (1956) of the titular crawling eye.

[00:00:21] In ChorusPeter!”

[00:00:21] Peter jumps in front of a tree – notably he is wearing the outfit he wears for “Mary Talbert”. There is then a shot of him in a tan sweater at night.

[00:00:25] In ChorusLaura!”

[00:00:25] Laura poses in front of the camera three times from over her shoulder. Notably, she is wearing the outfit he wears for “Mary Talbert”.

[00:00:28] In ChorusDavid!”

[00:00:28] David stands in front of a tree. The camera cuts to extreme close up in a shot made iconic by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez’s Blair Witch Project (1999). Notably, he is wearing the outfit he wears for “Mary Talbert”.

[00:00:31] In ChorusRiley!

[00:00:31] Riley jumps out from behind a tree! Notably, she is wearing the outfit she wears for “Mary Talbert”. The next shot depicts Riley in an interior location, at night.

[00:00:33] In Chorus “the paranormal paranoids, the paranormal paranoids, the para, para, para, para, pa, pa, paranormal paranoids!”

[00:00:33] In montage: A shot of Peter, Laura, and Riley dancing that takes place in “Mary Talbert”, a shot of Riley coming to grab the camera that occurs in “Mary Talbert”, a strange figure in a leotard in space, a figure ramming directly into a rocket in space, and the title card backed with an explosion.

was the original solitary confinement
08:42
for a while in the 1930s they just threw
08:44
in clots here
08:47
and basically let the inmates have the
08:50
run
08:51
of this room over here and then later it
08:54
was used as
08:55
overflow
09:05
and the inmates that were brought here
09:08
in the 1930s they were
09:10
maximum security meaning they were the
09:12
most violent offenders
09:14

other section of solitary confinement
14:48
this is where the majority of the deaths
14:51
and suicides occurred
14:53
in the prison
15:05
there was also an instance in the 1970s
15:08
of one intimate self-immolating
15:12
setting himself on fire as a form of
15:14
suicide
15:17

Important Timestamps

3:20 – Mia’s name is located in some random letters that appear on a window.

13:44 – Riley gets upset and very cold. You can see her breath. The camera then stops recording

Location

The location is likely the Ohio State Reformatory. This is where Shawshank Redemption was filmed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_State_Reformatory

Final Thoughts on Paranormal Paranoids Prison Episode

Overall this clip is pretty spooky because the location itself is pretty spooky. Not much happens through the majority of the 16 minute long episodes and it looks like a basic ghost hunting video that you can see all over Youtube, with the group just walking around the prison.

When the tape cuts out, not much explanation is given as to what exactly happened during the lost time. All we really know is that Riley says she is cold and see her breath. It is still a pretty scarey episode even without the jump scares.
